What Others have Said About the Citizens Climate Lobby
Most impressive is the work of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a relatively new, fast-growing,
non partisan, nonprofit group with 35 chapters across the United States and Canada. Their
mission is to get the U.S. Congress and the Canadian Parliament to pass effective climate legislation
- specifically fee-and-dividend legislation.
The Citizens Climate Lobby works via (1) using newspapers and other media to communicate
with the public, (2) educating and motivating citizens to lobby members of Congress and
Parliament in support of fee-and-dividend legislation. If you want to join the fight to save the
planet, to save creation for your grandchildren, there is no more effective step
you could take than becoming an active member of this group."

Quotes from Citizen Climate Lobby (CCL) volunteers
I am doing all I can to reduce my carbon footprint. After reading about climate change, I realized
that changing my lifestyle won'tr be big enough, fast enough. I want to do more. But with two kids, a full-time job,
and an urban farm, I don't have time to fugure out what to do on a grander scale. CCL does that for me. I
get to work with a national tem of volunteers using a proven model. Just tell me what to do and I'll
do it.
When I read Bill McKibben's book Eaarth last summer I wept and wept. So much had gone wrong since climate
change started accelerating as a result of use of fossil fuel. My heart had hit bottom. Then, one day, like an
angel from heaven, Paul Thompson dropped by Richmond on his way home from Cancun. He came to my
house on the snowiest night of winter and introduced me to CCL. Suddenly, I could see a pathway out of
my despair. I got involved and feel empowered now!
I came to CCL because of the first because of the first part of our mission "to build the political will for a stable
climate." I'm staying because of the second part of our mission "to facilitation breakthroughs in personal
and political power." Every time I do something asked of me by CCL, I feel better and stronger and more
capable. My experiences with CCL have had a positive impact on all parts of my life. "I am woman, hear
me roar!" Thank you CCL!

CCL is the most extraordinary organization I have ever worked with in terms of how
well it supports its activists. Mark, Amy and Steve (the staff) are right there
and get back to you fast. Once I emailed them before I went to bed to see if
anyone had created a business card template, and when I woke up Amy and Mark had
already contacted someone about it, and by that afternoon I had a file to take
to Kinko's.
They consistently balance high confidence in me with strong
practical support, so that I find myself doing things successfully that I
wouldn't have dared to try in the past. Just recently Mark suggested that I drop
by my Congressperson's office while I was in DC for the tar sands protest. I was
tired and said I'd think about it. But Mark had planted the seed and it seemed a
shame to waste a rare trip to DC without making contact with my representative,
so the next afternoon I called Mark back. I told him that if he could look up
the address and double check on the aide's names, and tell me what to talk
about, I would do it. And so it happened that I made my second visit to see the
aide, and it went so well that I also went to my Senators' offices.
